Home Staging Tips

Psychological Challenge

Preparing your house for sale is not the only challenge at stake. You need to be mentally prepared too. You need to let go, think positively, the house is not yours… it’s sold. You’re moving on, a new experience awaits you.

Declutter and Depersonalize

Be a step ahead, sort the stuff you won’t bring to your new destination. Do the sort piles: Keep – Sell – Donate. You’ll see, the exercise will make you feel good. Start putting your family pictures and trophies in boxes, put away your travel souvenirs as well as personal or religious items. Declutter your closets and storage spaces, buyers notice these things.

Clean up

Everything has to sparkle: bathrooms, windows, floors, etc. Ask family and friends for help. Maintain the cleanness at all times during the selling process. Ensure that all family members understand what is at stake and contribute to the effort.

Exterior

We often think wrongly that the exterior is less important if the interior is inviting. The first thing visitors will see is the exterior of your house. In summer, keep the lawn freshly mowed and in winter, remove snow from the aisles. Try to keep recycling and garbage cans out of sight. Ensure that the doorbell works, Christmas decoration are down and leaves raked, depending on the season, a few flower pots will make your doorway more inviting.
